The Castle Rock and Petenwell Lakes Region of Central Wisconsin encompasses two counties (Juneau & Adams) and has many lakes, rivers, streams and trails. The Wisconsin River flows between the two counties and was dammed in two locations to form the Castle Rock and Petenwell Lakes.
Castle Rock and Petenwell Lakes are the second and fourth largest inland lakes in Wisconsin. The lakes are bordered on the west by Juneau County and the east by Adams County.
There is an abundance of opportunities for adventure seekers. Outdoor attractions include hiking, biking, walking, trail riding, camping, fishing, sight seeing, bird watching, boating, skiing, swimming or several seasonal sports. The region has the largest all turf multi-sport facility in the Midwest.

The area's history is well preserved in the Juneau County Historical Boorman House, Elroy Historical Society Museum, Wisconsin National Guard Musuem, Adams County Historical McGowan House or Adams County Heritage Center.

The communities that dot the landscape offer an array of restaurants, coffee shops, Polish delis, bars, antique and variety stores, fast food, gift stores, orchards, flower shops, churches and even Amish shops.
On Saturdays during the months of May thru October, locals and visitors mingle throughout the booths at the Farmers’ Markets. The open-air markets are filled with fresh produce, many varieties of crafts, bakery items, honey, woven baskets, jewelry, hand sewn and crafted items, pastries, and more! There’s free parking and special orders are welcomed at several craft booths.

The Castle Rock and Petenwell Lakes Region has many FUN events throughout the year. Many events are sponsored by the local lake businesses. Communities host events and parades in addition to great hospitality.
The Necedah National Wildlife Refuge, State and County Parks are a must to enjoy with family, friends or just a quiet time of your own. There are several private campground opportunities available.
